Once he joined East Bengal he played in the same team for his entire career (except in 191-92 for Mohun Bagan). I know of only one other player (Subrata Bhattacharjee) with the same distinction. This was when a change of team could easily bring in significant monetary gain. Monoranjan was respected for this as well as for his solid defense. Captain for East Bengal.
